Through my Collaborative Practice, I am committed to changing the way that people separate and divorce. Traditionally, the divorce process has too often been destructive for couples, children and families, far too expensive, and results in an outcome that falls short of everyone's expectations. In my role as a Collaborative Lawyer, I strive to assist couples going through a separation and divorce in a positive and respectful manner without going to court and to reach a resolution where everyone's needs are met in some way. I believe that, upon separation, couples and families need to be restructured in a positive way that avoids the destruction of families and relationships.

I have been practising family law for 30+ years. I completed the Collaborative Divorce training in 2007 and since then have focused my practice on assisting spouses to divorce in the Collaborative way.

I regularly witness the positive and healthy results from a Collaborative Divorce – parents who are much better able to co-parent together, spouses who each feel that his or her needs have been met in some way in the final resolution, manageable legal costs, and relationships that are not fractured.

The common threads that I hear from clients embarking on a separation are that they want to maintain a relationship with their spouse, they are worried about the welfare of their children, and they don't want to spend the equity in their home going through a divorce. Collaborative Practice addresses all of these concerns well!

I am on the board of directors of Collaborative Divorce Vancouver, am a founding member and director of the BC Collaborative Roster Society, have assisted with Collaborative trainings through Continuing Legal Education and have conducted many workshops on Collaborative Divorce.
